 US government taxes and airline fuel surcharges are not included in the prices listed above and may range from $450 and up per airline ticket.
 There is a $100 entrance fee for US citizens payable at the airport upon arrival in Santiago.

 

You may enter Chile by land without paying the $100 tax.  Possible entry points are Mendoza, if you wish to visit the Argentine wine country.  You would have to fly from Buenos Aires to Mendoza, then bus to Santiago, which is a 7 hour bus trip. If you are interested in seeing Patagonia and the Lake District, consider flying from Buenos Aires to Bariloche, then do the spectacular Lake crossing into Chile ending up in the lakeside town of Puerto Varas.  The Lake Crossing is a full day trip from Bariloche and includes crossing by bus/boat, bus/boat to view the magnificent scenery.  The boat is a vistadome glass topped boat to maximize viewing the amazing Andean mountains and beautiful turquoise lakes.
