ITINERARY

Day One:

Arrive in Havana

Upon arrival, meet with your guide and transfer into the city. Head into Old Havana for an enlightening walking tour where we will visit some of the most significant sites in the city, such as the Plaza de Armas, Plaza de San Francisco, and the Plaza de la Catedral. Dinner at the hotel or a local restaurant (paladar).

Day Two

Havana History & Culture

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit a contemporary dance school to learn about Cuban music and culture from locals. Professor Martiza Corrales with give a presentation about the history of Cuba, before heading to a local Senior Center to deliver humanitarian aid. Walk though local markets to lunch at a paladar, then visit la Casa del Nino y la Nina, which is an orphanage in Old Havana, where the group will be delivering more humanitarian aid. Visit the National Art Gallery and end the day at El Guajirito, a restaurant run by the Buena Vista Social Club for dinner and a live show.

Day Three

In the footsteps of Hemingway

Breakfast at the hotel. Embark on a full day tour of Havana in the steps of the writer, Ernest Hemingway. Start at Finca Vigia, the home where Hemingway lived for 21 years and created some of his most renowned works. Return to Havana to stop at a community project for seniors to deliver humanitarian aid and enjoy some snacks with them. Walk on the ramparts of Morro Castle for an excellent view of the city before lunch at a local restaurant. Visit a cigar-making factory to learn how handcrafted cigars are made. Stroll through the San Jose Flea Market before returning to the hotel. Dinner at a local paladar.

Day Four

Havana

Breakfast at the hotel. Take a ride in a classic car through Havana, including a visit to Fusterlandia. This unique community was created by the Cuban artist Jose Fuster and continues to this day via the study of art in order to make the community more vibrant and exciting. Have lunch in a local paladar and visit Hammel Alley to learn more about Afro-Cuban culture and visit with a babalao, a high priest in the Santeria religion.  Stop by Revolution Square to learn about the Cuban Revolution. End the day at the Hall of Fame Bar at the Hotel Nacional, to end the day with a spectacular view of the city. Dinner on your own.

Day Five

Santa Clara & Trinidad

Breakfast at the hotel. Check out and begin the journey out into the Cuban countryside. The first stop will be Santa Clara, the city where the final battle of the Cuban Revolution happened between Che and Battista's troops. After lunch on the way, head to Trinidad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This well-preserved Spanish colonial town is filled with charming architecture, cobblestone streets, and several museums. Dinner at the hotel.

Day Six

El Valle de los Ingenios

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit El Valle de los Ingenios, also known as the Sugar Mills Valley. This valley holds great historical significance as well as beauty, as it was home to many sugar plantations and slaves. After lunch in a local restaurant, visit a local maternity home to deliver humanitarian aid, followed by a walking tour of Trinidad, including Santeria myths and legends. Dinner at the hotel.

Day Seven

Cienfuegos

Breakfast at the hotel. Return to Havana via the city of Cienfuegos. Take a tour of the city including the Ferrer Palace and Terry Theater. Lunch at a local restaurant. Check into the hotel in Havana. Enjoy a farewell dinner with the group.

Day Eight

Return Home

Breakfast at the hotel. Depending on the flight time, you may enjoy a morning activity before checking out and transfering to the airport for your flight home.
