Itinerary

Day 1

Day 2
Arrive in Panama.
Transfer from the airport to the Central Hotel Panama
Breakfast at the hotel.
Start your day witha a tour of Panama City in the old city center of Casco Antiguo, which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known for its colonial and Caribbean architecture, the old town has been colorfully restored and is now known for it's arts and cultural scene. Continue with a drive down the Causeway to get a spectacular view of the Panama City skyline as you head toward the Miraflores Locks on the Panama Canal. On the terrace, you will be able to watch ships as they make their way through the locks and learn more about the Canal's operations and history.
Return to your hotel. The rest of your afternoon is free to explore on your own.

Day 3
Breakfast at the hotel.
Drive to Lake Alajuela, where you will board small dugout canoes that will take you to the Rio Chagres. Float past the jungle until you reach the village, to learn more about the millennia-old culture of the Emberá people, who lived in Panama long before the arrival of the Europeans and still maintain their tribal culture.
Enjoy a music and dance performance from the tribespeople while you taste traditional Emberá dishes wrapped in palm leaves. While you are there, you can also opt to receive a temporary tattoo made of dyes from the Jagua plant mixed with ashes, that are applied with small wooden tools and last for approximately 2 weeks.
In the afternoon, return to Panama City.

Day 4
Breakfast at the hotel.
Early morning pick up and transfer to the marina where you will board the Pacific Queen and set sail to the entrance of the Panama Canal. Pass through several sets of complex locks as you sail from Gamboa to Flamenco Marina (or vice versa), and take in the natural beauty surrounding the Panama Canal as you traverse the Gamboa rainforest and the Chagres river. Enjoy lunch on board as you head to the Pacific Ocean.
Upon disembarkation, return to your hotel in Panama City.

Day 5
Breakfast at the hotel.
Pick up at the hotel and head to Soberania National Park to Gatun Lake, where you will sail to Monkey Island to see capuchin and howler monkeys in their natural habitat. From the boat, it is possible to get quite close to any monkeys hanging out in the mangroves. After sailing Gatun Lake, head to a sloth sanctuary, which rescues two-toed and three-toed sloths. Learn about the conservation of these delicate animals and get to see them up-close. Visit the Butterfly house to learn about unique tropical butterflies, as well as orchids and frogs that can only be found in Panama.

Day 6
Breakfast at the hotel.
Today is free to explore Panama City on your own. To kick start your free day, we recommend visiting the Frank Gehry-designed Biomuseo or the Museo de la Mola to learn more about traditional Panamanian art.

Day 7
Breakfast at the hotel.
Transfer to the marina to catch the ferry to Isla Taboga, the Island of the Flowers, just a short 30 minute ride. Spend the day strolling through the colorful village on the island, where you can visit the second oldest church in the Western Hemisphere, the Iglesia San Pedro, or you can swim in the calm, clear waters off the island.
In the afternoon, return to Panama City by ferry where you will be transferred back to your hotel.
