ITINERARY

Day One:
Fly to Singapore
Fly from the U.S. to Singapore. You will lose a day on the international date line, which will be gained on the return flight.
Upon arriving in Singapore, transfer to the Hotel Furama City Centre.

Days Three & Four
Singapore
Spend a few days exploring Singapore on your own with the sightseeing coupons found in your Singapore Stopover package. You can visit Gardens by the Bay, the Singapore Flyer, the Asian Civilizations Museum, take a river cruise on a bumboat, explore Chinatown & it's food street, see the Singapore Zoo, and much much more.

Day Five
Kuching
Fly to Kuching and transfer to the Grand Margherita Hotel. The hotel is right on the river front in the heart of town, and you won't be able to miss it with one of the city's famous cat statues right across the street. Rest of the day is free to explore Kuching.

Day Six
The Orangs at Semonggoh
In the morning, visit the Semonggoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Center for your first chance to see our distant, red-headed cousins, the Orangutans. The Orangutans at the Center are free to roam, so there is no guarantee of how many you will see, but they do like to join in the fun when it's feeding time.
In the afternoon, take a tour of city including the famous Sarawak Museum.

Day Seven
Sarawak Cultural Village
Visit the Sarawak Cultural Village to learn more about the many different Dayak tribes that live in Borneo. Enjoy a dance program at the village, then return to Kuching for an afternoon river cruise.

Day Eight
Miri
Fly to Miri early in the morning and head to Niah National Park. Take a walk through the jungle on a raised platform for about 4km to reach Niah Cave. From there you can explore this famous cave system and its archeological sites, including hematite paintings on the cave walls. Lunch included.

Day Nine
Miri
Visit the Piasau Nature Reserve, home to a small population of Oriental-Pied Hornbills and other diverse wildlife. From there head to Canada Hill to see the "Grand Old Lady," the first oil rig in Malaysia, and spectacular views of the city and coastline. Afterward take a tour of Miri including the largest Taoist Temple in South East Asia, the local market, and other popular spots.

Day Ten
Fly to Sandakan
Fly to Sandakan via Kota Kinabalu. Take a short city tour of Kota Kinabalu before your connecting flight. Arrive in Sandakan and transfer to the Sabah Hotel.

Day Eleven
Into the Jungle
Drive into the jungle and stop at the Gomantong Caves, famous for its harvesting of bird's nests for bird's nest soup. Continue on to the village of Bilit on the Kinabatangan River (2 hours). This part of Borneo offers an excellent chance to see Borneo's famous wildlife in its natural habitat. Arrive at the Bilit Adventure Lodge and take an afternoon riverboat trip along the river to spot wildlife. Lunch and dinner at the lodge.

Day Twelve
Orang Spotting
In the morning, walk through the jungle to Ox-Bow Lake for bird and animal spotting. After lunch, take a wildlife cruise to spot proboscis monkeys, wild elephants (if you're lucky), and other animals. Dinner at the lodge.

Day Thirteen
Return to Sandakan
Drive back to Sandakan, with a stop for lunch along the way, and visit the Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary, where you can get up close and personal with these amazing apes. You'll have a chance to see the baby Orangutan nursery if it's open, then walk across to see the Borneo Sun Bear Conservation Center to see this small, endangered bears. Afterward, visit the Sandakan War Memorial where the Japanese Army held Allied POWs prisoner and took on them on brutal death marches

Day Fourteen
Kuala Lumpur
Today fly to Kuala Lumpur and transfer to the Pullman City Center Hotel. The rest of the day will be free to explore the city.

Day Fifteen
Batu Caves
In the morning enjoy a city tour of Kuala Lumpur, includingthe National Museum, National Mosque, Merdeka Square, the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, and Central Market. Enjoy lunch on your own at the KL Tower before visiting the colorful Batu Caves.

Day Sixteen
Return Home
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
Please be aware that this is an Active trip involving light hiking, getting in and out of boats, and climbing stairs.
